Hello,

My name is Laura, and I am very excited to be searching for a placement in a Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) or Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ). I am 22 years old and from the United States of America. I first came to Germany in 2022 after connecting closely with a group of people online, and we are all still friends to this day. From my very first day here, I have been fascinated with and admired Germany's environment and way of life.

Helping others has always been what has brought the most fulfillment to my life. Since I was young, I said that as long as I am improving the world, no matter how big or small the difference, I will be happy. Being a part of a team or community whose sole purpose is serving others and creating positive change would be greatly satisfying to me. I believe that the social aspect of these programs is important because it builds strength and unity on a larger scale, which makes more possible. I am excited to meet more people with different lives and experiences than me that share the same values.

My occupational and volunteer history has given me knowledge and practice in a variety of fields, including working with nature and animals, and people of all ages and disability status. In the past, I have volunteered at animal shelters, worked in agriculture, and served disadvantaged public communities, and more. I am grateful for these experiences because it has taught me many valuable life skills, like the ability to cooperate in a team setting, patience and understanding, and responsibility.

In addition to my strong motivation and desire to take part in these volunteer services, I am also highly adaptable to new situations, a fast learner, and a very hard worker. I always use my best efforts and fully dedicate myself to the task at hand. I am interested in any program that will teach me new things and provide community support.

I am currently learning the German language and I am eager to continue improving my skills.
