My name is Thierry Ishimwe and I come from Rwanda. I am writing this letter with a sincere heart because working in social care in Germany is not just an opportunity for me – it is something I truly want to do.
Growing up, I learned early what it means to care for others. In my neighborhood I often helped children with their homework, played with them when their parents were busy, and assisted elderly people with small daily tasks like carrying items, cleaning, or simply keeping them company. These simple moments taught me patience, kindness and the importance of being there for someone.
I feel especially connected to children and elderly people because they both need love, understanding and attention. I want to support them in their daily life, help them feel safe and valued, and bring positivity into their day, even through small actions like listening, talking, or spending time together.
I am currently learning German and I am very motivated to improve it every day. My dream is to live the German culture, work in a real social environment and become part of a caring team. I am open-minded, reliable and ready to learn from experienced professionals.
For me, FSJ or BFD is more than volunteering – it is a step towards my future. I want to grow personally, gain real experience in social work and prepare myself for further studies or a career in this field.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I would be very grateful for the chance to contribute my energy, respect and care to your institution.
Kind regards,
Thierry Ishimwe
